One of the most exciting additions to the marketplace in fall 2019 is the iconic 2020 Subaru WRX, which is set to enjoy what could be its final outing as a fifth-generation vehicle. The four-door, compact sport sedan is almost certain to retain its popularity over the next 12 months, and Southshort Subaru can support you find the perfect model and financing options.

Subaru Style Meets Requisite Refinement

Fans of the fifth-gen WRX will be pleased to know that the next generation of Subaru’s stunning compact sedan is not due for at least another year. The 2020 release carries the same stunning features it has since 2014, but this year’s incarnation builds upon that success with a number of subtle but necessary upgrades.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged flat-4 engine remains, meaning the vehicle’s horsepower is still at 268. However, the Performance Package now includes Brembo brakes boasting four-piston calipers to the front and twin-piston calipers to the rear.

Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive and track-tuned suspension deliver excellence through corners while the standard model is down to 2,294lbs, which gives the sporty model an even nippier feel, particularly for city driving.

The 2020 Subaru WRX is available in several beautiful colors too, including:

Crystal Black Silica,

Crystal White Pearl,

Ice Silver Metallic,

Lapis Blue Pearl,

Magnetite Gray Metallic,

Pure Red,

WR Blue Pearl.

Of course, options relating to the alloys (17” come as standard on the basic WRX but are upgraded for the Premium, Limited, and STI models) allow you to build a dream setup. Ultimately, the 2020 model doesn’t aim to reinvent the wheel but, then again, it doesn’t need to.

Instead, it builds on everything that was been great about the 2019 model to create the best Subaru WRX ever made.

The Best WRX Value Yet?

Let’s face it, value for money is crucial for all drivers regardless of which car they wish to purchase. The 2020 WRX is competitively priced when compared to the Audi A3, Jaguar XE, Ford Focus, and other competing models. It provides affordability while still being a car you can be proud of, which is the perfect combination for most drivers.

The black carbon interiors look particularly stylish while fuel economy of 27/21 MPG is fairly good for a car of its ilk. The trunk has a capacity of cubic feet while the leg room in the front and back are 43.3in and 35.4in respectively. The headroom is 39.8in and 37.1in.

In addition to the comforts behind the wheel for driver and passengers, including cup holders and a fantastic infotainment system, the 2020 WRX boasts key tech features such as brake assistance and brake override, along with a sport-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension, quick-ratio electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering (EPAS), and more.

If the 2020 WRX is to be the final offering before the sixth-generation is announced, it’s certainly a great vehicle inside and out. Performance, safety, and comfort are supported by enjoyment behind the wheel. If you thought the previous models were perfect, the 2020 WRX will blow you away.

With prices starting at $28,395, representing an increase of just $300 on last year’s model, this is arguably the most affordable WRX edition yet.

As well as three trims of the standard 2.0-liter WRX, Subaru will once again bring a WRX STI model to the market. It includes a 2.5-liter engine, which produces the following upgrades;

Power up to 310 hp @ 6,000 rpm (from 268 hp on standard models),

Torque up to 290 lb-ft @ 4,000 - 5,200 rpm (from 258 lb-ft on standard models),

Maximum boost pressure of 16.2 psi (from 15.9 psi on standard models).

The 2020 WRX STI also offers a number of features as standard when they would be optional on the WRX. Subaru Intelligent Drive is one of the most noticeable options. Despite having the same physical dimensions, the STI model is slightly heavier, although the extra horsepower compensates for this.

Subaru’s newest WRX STI starts at $36,995 and is available on various finance deals. Like the standard, premium, and limited models, you can book your test drive immediately.
